Joyce Mae Buckner Smith, 78, of Cynthiana, KY., died Wed., July 26, 2017. She was born July 12, 1939, in Robertson Co., KY., to the late William Thomas and Hazel Godbey Buckner. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Women and Harrison County Homemakers and a retired Teacher Assistant for the Harrison County School System. Survivors include her husband, Ernest Smith, Jr., two daughters, Kathy Smith-Burberry, Cynthiana, KY., and Lisa (Tony) Ramsey, Bracken Co., Ky., three brothers, William Thomas (Carol) Buckner, Jr., Tennessee, Clinton (Ida) Buckner, Cynthiana, KY., and Robert (Emma) Buckner, Ohio., five grandchildren, Andrea Smith Kendall, Allison (Mike) Dampier, Butch (Staci) Burberry, Wesley (Elaine) Burberry, and Audrey Ramsey. Nine great grandchildren. Services will be conducted 11 AM Monday, July 31, 2017, at Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home, by Dr. Ted Beam and Rev. Rick Snyder, with burial in Battle Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM Sunday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Bluegrass Hospice Care or First United Methodist Church.
