William J. "Jay" Ritchie, 88, died Monday, October 22, 2007, after a long illness.
He was born October 14, 1919, in Nicholas County, Kentucky, to the late Dora and Mattie
C. Butler Ritchie. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Methodist Men
and Retired Ladish Mens' Breakfast Club. Mr. Ritchie was a retired Ladish Employee and
farmer. He was an Honorably Discharged Army Veteran of World War II.
His wife of 61 years, Pauline "Polly" Gaunce Ritchie, his Brothers, Robert, Paul, Harlan,
Allen and Raymond "Bus" Ritchie and an infant sister preceded him in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Ritchie and Becky (Jerry) Riggs, of Cynthiana, Ky.
a special nephew, Bradley Schanding, three grandchildren, Terri (Chip) May, of Lexington, Ky.
Lisa (Glenn) Moon, of Cynthiana, Ky., and Jeremy Riggs, of Millersburg, Ky., seven great
grandchildren, Zachary, Darian, Joshua and William May, Ashlie Bean Moon, Cody and
Brittany Moon. Several special nieces and special nephews also survive.
Services will be conducted 11 A.M. Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at the Mt. Pleasant
United Methodist Church, by Rev. Don Fryman and Rev. Jim Gaunce. with burial in
Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 P.M. Tuesday, at the
Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home. Cynthiana, Ky..
Memorials may be made to the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Building Fund or Hospice
of the Bluegrass.
