William Emmett Edwards Obituary

William Emmett "Lum" Edwards, 67 of Cynthiana died Friday May 4, 2007.


Lum was born September 28, 1939 in Bourbon Co., KY., to  the  late William  Emmett  and  Mary  Cottrell  Edwards.    He was a graduate of Kentucky Southern College,  attended Sue Bennett College, played basketball at both schools, and was a Kentucky Colonel and an honorably discharged Army Veteran.


He was a retired educator with the Harrison Co. School System where he served as Supervisor of Instruction,


and  on  the  State  Advisory  Panel  for  Exceptional  Children  and  the  Bluegrass  Regional  Health  Planning


Council.


 


 


 


Survivors include his wife Patti W. Edwards, 3  sons, Joshua Ely Edwards of Lexington, James (Melissa )Edwards of Los Angeles, CA., and  Chip Smith of Barbourville,  1 daughter, Sarah Smith of Louisville, 1 brother Jimmy (Julie) Edwards of Cynthiana and his faithful  companion,   Winston.


 


 A  Celebration  of  His  Life  was  held  1:00 PM   Monday,  May 7, 2007 at the Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Richard Harris,   Rusty  Ford   and   Jerry  Brunker.


 


Burial  followed  the   service in the Battle Grove Cemetery.


 


 


Memorial contributions may be made to the Harrison Co. Humane Society, or the William Edwards Exceptional Achievement Awards C/O Westside Elementary School.
