Virginia Lee Lake McKenney, 89, wife of the late William Garrett “W.G.” McKenney, Jr. passed away Sunday, November 16, 2025 at Cedar Ridge Health Campus.
Born February 8, 1936 in Harrison County to the late Hillman & Martha Gray Stevens Lake, she dedicated 45 years of service to Harrison Memorial Hospital starting in nursing, later retiring as the assistant administrator with the honor of the activity room being named for her. Virginia was a 60-year member of the D.A.R., serving in various offices both on the local and state level, an Honorable Kentucky Colonel, and a longtime member of Union Baptist Church.
She is survived by her brother Charles H. (Janet) Lake; and 3 nephews, Bucky (Christy) Hall, Jonathan Dee (Bobbie Jo) Hall & Rodney Jason Hall, along with several great-nieces & nephews and a large extended family.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, November 21st at Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Battle Grove Cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as casketbearers.
Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. Friday until the time of service.
