Thomas “Tommy” Lee Slade passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 20th, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was 81.
Born October 2, 1943 to the late Vernon & Ruby Lemons Slade and raised in Cynthiana, Kentucky, Tommy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. His warmth, generosity, and zest for life left a lasting mark on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Tommy is survived by his loving wife of fourteen years, Myrna Slade; his son, Steven Slade (Mary Beth); his daughter, Shea McCloskey; and step-children, Laura Snyder (Lincoln) & Allyson Lewis (Cory).
He was a proud “Pa” to his grandchildren: Callie and Scott, Tyler & Brooke, Sydney, Sloane, and Bridger and great-grandchildren: Cash, Mary Martin, Carly Jane, Haynes, and Vivien. He is also lovingly remembered by his sister, Patsy Williamson; step- brother Darryl Tolle, step-sisters Donna Nagy & Bobbi Campbell, an aunt, Gayle Gardner, along with several nieces and nephews
Also preceding him in death was his wife of 24 years Marla and her son Allen Richie.
A self-made man with a sharp mind for business, Tommy built a long and successful career in insurance. He later established Slade Inc. alongside his son, Steve, growing a legacy rooted in hard work and family.
Outside of work, Tommy found his greatest joy at Dale Hollow Lake. There, at the lake house he built, he spent countless weekends cruising the water, hosting gatherings, and creating lasting memories with the people he loved most.
Tommy had a big heart and an even bigger personality. He loved music, good food and a hearty laugh…but above all, he cherished time spent with his large family and his many dear friends. His spirit, humor and presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A private graveside service will be held in Battle Grove Cemetery with inurnment to follow.
