Luther Owen “Teddy” York, 68, of Lexington, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at his home after a long illness.

Born June 12, 1956 in Lexington to the late Robert J. & Helen Satterly York, he was a 1974 graduate of Harrison County High School, where he played on the baseball team. He worked for many years at Grede-Cynthiana and for the Glenn Automotive Group. Teddy loved horses, horse racing and trips to Keeneland. He owned a horse named Rebel Thunder who still holds a track record at River Downs. He also enjoyed all types of sports.

Surviving are 2 brothers, Jeff York of Cynthiana and Marty York of Lexington; a sister, Debra (Norton) Sudduth of Frankfort; 3 nephews & a niece: Brian (Jennifer) Sudduth, Jason Sudduth, Chris (Lacey) York & Kayla York; and several great-nieces & great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Denise King York.

Services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, January 13th at Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home by Pastor Jerry Walters with burial to follow on the family lot in Battle Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. Monday until the time of service.
