Rodney Paul Nelson, 66, husband of Tina Dotson Nelson, passed away Friday, February 24, 2023 at his home in Cynthiana.


Born April 8, 1956 in Logan, West Virginia to the late Elza & Leva Pearl Baisden Nelson, he was a lifelong coal miner. Rodney enjoyed spending time with family & friends, visiting flea markets and watching westerns. He was a very loving papaw and an avid outdoorsman.


Additional survivors are his sons, Joshua (Olivia) Nelson, of Sadieville, & Jeremy (Regina) Nelson, of Logan, West Virginia; a brother, Randal (Judy) Nelson, of Logan; 2 sisters, Paula Estep, of Bluefield, West Virginia, & Linda (Ronnie) Ison, of Decatur, Tennessee; 8 grandchildren: Leia, Harper, Parker, Rylee, Austin, Bryson, Emily & Brendon Nelson; and a great-granddaughter.


Also preceding him in death was a son, Rod Nelson, Jr.


A graveside inurnment service officiated by Darrell Womac will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 4th in the Nelson Cemetery, Logan, West Virginia.
