Walter Ray Gaines, 80, husband of Betty Jean Gaines, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at his home.

Born November 24, 1938 in London, KY to the late Walter & Julia Odell Gaines, Ray was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Korea and was a retired highway inspector for the Florida Department of Transportation. Upon retirement, he returned to his native Kentucky where he greatly enjoyed working on his farm.

Other survivors include 3 sons: Walter Ray (Trish) Gaines, Jr., of Coco, Florida, Leslie Dale (Glenn Earnest) Gaines, of Lancaster & Andrew Lee Gaines, of Leesburg, Florida; 2 daughter, Lora Ann Gaines, of Leesburg, Florida & Cindy (Rob) Maybry, of Georgetown; a brother Frank (Linda) Gaines, of Leesburg, Florida; a sister, Jeanette Gaines, of Kissimee, Florida, 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 12:00 Noon Monday, October 21 at Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow in the Ky. Veterans Cemtery North in Williamstown.

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. Monday until the time of service.
