Phyllis Yvonne Patrick Anderson, 85, wife of the late Robert F. “Bob” Anderson, passed away Monday, November 13, 2023 at the UK-Bluegrass Hospice Care Center.
Born November 30, 1937 in Harrison County to the late Raphael & Gertrude Beckett Patrick, she was a retired teacher for Harrison County Schools, having taught at Northside & Southside Elementary Schools for 30 years. Phyllis was a true prayer warrior, encouraging and giving comfort to anyone in need. She devoted a large portion of her life to the First Methodist Church of Cynthiana, in many capacities over the years. She served as church treasurer for 15 years, was on several committees and evangelism teams, such as Bereavement Hospitality Committee, United Methodist Women, Berean Sunday School Class, the Women’s Discipleship Study and the Wednesday Prayer Breakfast.
When not immersed in church activities, Phyllis loved to spend time outdoors walking, working in her flower garden and watching the hummingbirds. She also enjoyed painting, knitting and working puzzles.
Left to cherish her memory are 2 children: Patrick (Angie) Jennings of Ft. Mitchell and Deandra (Kyle) Gatlin of Dothan, Alabama; 3 grandchildren: Alexa Jennings, Sterling (Amy) Gatlin & Jordan Gatlin; 2 great-grandchildren, Brooks & Wells Gatlin, and several nieces & nephews.
Also preceding her in death were 2 brothers, Eugene & Merrell Patrick.
A Memorial Service will be held 12:30 P.M. Thursday, November 16th at First Methodist Church of Cynthiana by Rev. Kyle Gatlin and Dr. Ted Beam. Private burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11:30 A.M. Thursday until the time of service at the church.
