Pauline "Polly" Gaunce Ritchie, 83, went home to her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 22,
2007, after a long illness.
She was born February 10, 1924, to the late Harmon and Betty Feeback Gaunce. Mrs. Ritchie
was a member of the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and enjoyed gardening and growing
flowers.
Other than her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Varner and brother,
Robert Gaunce.
She will be sadly missed by her husband of 61 years, William "Bill" J. Ritchie and two daughters,
Linda Ritchie and Becky (Jerry) Riggs, of Cynthiana. A special nephew, Bradley Schanding that
she loved like a son. She is also survived by her 3 grandchldren, Terri (Chip) May, of Lexington,
Lisa (Glenn) Moon, of Cynthiana and Jeremy Riggs of Millersburg. 7 Great Grandchildren, Zachary
Darian, Joshua and Will May, Ashlie Bean Moon, Cody and Brittany Moon. One Brother,
Rev. James (Phyllis) Gaunce, Two sisters, Hazel (Joe) Schanding, and Juanita (Clestus) Ritchie,
all of Nicholas Co. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Services will be conducted Monday, June 25, 2007, at 11 A.M. at the Mt. Pleasant United
Methodist Church, by Rev. Don Fryman, Rev. Jim Finch and Rev. Brenda Routt, with burial
in Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery.
Friends may call 5 to 8 P.M. Sunday, June 24, 2007, at the Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral
Home.
Memorials may be made to the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church or Hospice of the Bluegrass.
Active Pallbearers are Dennis Ritchie, Gary Broderick, Keith Smith, Jerry Ritchie, Tim Blankenship,
Larry Ritchie.
Honorary Pallbearers are Irvin Dampier, John Smith, Clyde Smith, Cles Ritchie and Joe Schanding.
Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
