Nurmel P. "Paul" Maggard, 84, of Cynthiana, Kentucky, died Thursday, May 24, 2007,
at his residence.
He was born October 23, 1922, to the late Jesse Thomas and Anne Gilliam Maggard in
Ethel, West Virginia. Mr. Maggard was a retired carpenter and an honorably discharged
Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church
amd Cynthiana Elks Lodge no. 438.
His brother, Delwyn Maggard preceded him in death.
Survivors include is wife Hazel Myers Maggard, one daughter, Judy (Danny) Marsh, Harrison
County, one stepdaugher, Glencyce (Ron) England, Cynthiana, one stepson, David (Nancy)
Jenkins. He was a loving grandfather to two grandsons, Jeffrey (Sharon) Marsh and Aaron
(Kristin) Marsh and Step-granddaughter, Kristina Blakeman. Six great grandchildren also survive.
Three sisters, Ina (Frank) Scaggs, of Medina, Ohio, Frema (Harvey) Dingess, Chapmanville,
West, Virginia and Frances (Alonzo) Curry, of Reynoldsville, West Virginia.
Services will be conducted 2 P.M. Monday, May 28, 2007, at the Drake-Whaley-McCarty
Funeral Home, by Rev. Jerry Watkins, with burial in Battle Grove Cemetery. Friends may
call from 5 to 8 P.M. Sunday, at the Funeral Home. Elks memorial service 7: 45 P.M.
Sunday at the Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
Active Pallbearers are Ron England, Jeff Marsh, Aaron Marsh, Chuck Garrison, Greg Whalen,
Jimmy Isaac, David Hicks and Wayne Fitzgerald.
