Neva (Chamberlin) Lanning

Neva Chamberlin Lanning, 100, passed away peacefully March 9, 2026 at her home in Harrison County. 

Born May 5, 1925 in Cynthiana to the late Leland & Lena Roberts Chamberlin, she retired from Kroger as a head cashier and later retired from 3M. She was the last living charter member of Faith Baptist Church, where she attended faithfully. Known for her outreach to others, Neva enjoyed church functions and meeting visitors at the church. She often mailed cards and visited nursing homes, bringing candy and meals to those in need. She also enjoyed quilting, crocheting and gardening, making over forty quilts mostly as gifts. Her most proud accomplishment was raising five children. 

Surviving are two children, Steve (Georgia) Nickell and Shirley (Dana) Christophersen; five grandchildren: Cathy (Nate) Hall, Shawn (Michele) Tussey, Aimee (Michael) Johnson, Mathew Nickell and Missie (Tim) Reynolds; and fourteen great-grandchildren. 

Also preceding her in death were three children: James Wayne Nickell, Larry Dean Nickell and Linda Elaine Boyle; a brother, Pastor Ray Chamberlin; a sister, Violet Renaker; two daughters-in-law; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson, Bryson Hall. 

Services will be 1:00 P.M.  Friday, March 13th at Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home by Pastor John Chamberlin with burial to follow in Battle Grove Cemetery. 

Family and friends will serve as casketbearers.

Visitation will be after 6:00 P.M. Thursday. 

She wished to express her thanks to her "precious friends for always being there. It's meant so much... heaven will be wonderful." 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bluegrass Hospice Care or Harrison Co. Senior Citizens.
