Mary Catherine Carpenter Plummer, 89, wife of the late James Keet Plummer, Sr., passed away Sunday, August 28, 2022 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
Born July 27, 1933 in Bath County to the late Clarence & Nellie Hatton Carpenter, she was a retired employee of 3M and member of Cynthiana Baptist Church. A member of the Lillian Baptist Church and associate member of Lillian United Methodist Church, both in Lillian, Alabama, she sang in both of the choirs there. Always striving to keep her mind sharp, Mary liked playing games on her iPad and working Sudoku & crossword puzzles, as well as doing canvas needlepoint & cross stitch projects. Her greatest joy in life came from spending time with her family and being their beloved “MeMe.”
Survivors include 3 daughters: Debbie (Fred) Perkins, of Nicholasville, Janis (Mark) Logsdon, of Lawrenceburg, and Kathy Plummer (Ted Woodley), of Cynthiana; a daughter-in-law, Paula Plummer of Lexington; a sister, Amanda McElfresh, of Nepton; 6 grandchildren: Ben (Jessica) Plummer, Sarah Perkins, Mary (Mark) Thacker, Jamie (Stephanie) Plummer, Bekah Logsdon & Joseph (Rebecca) Perkins; and 4 great-grandchildren: Josie Rae Plummer, Kelsey Marie Plummer, Olivia Marie Plummer & Andrew Keith Plummer.
Also preceding her in death were her son, James K. Plummer, Jr., and her brother, Clarence “Sonny” Carpenter.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, September 2, 2022 at the Cynthiana Baptist Church with burial to follow in Battle Grove Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be her grandchildren and Danny Copes.
Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. Friday at the church until the time of service.
