Joseph Stratford “Joe” Mineer, 87, of Cynthiana, husband of the late Jean Thompson Mineer, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington.
Born November 13, 1936 in Mason County to the late Owen & Anna Belle Turner Mineer, he was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and retired carpenter. Joe loved listening to and playing classic country music and was longtime leader of the group Joe Mineer & The Fugitives. He also enjoyed watching old westerns on television and working crossword puzzles.
Surviving are 7 children: Tim (Karen) Tucker, Duwayne (Crystal) Tucker, Jody (John) Walker, Chris (Penelope) Mineer, Joseph J. (Michelle) Mineer, David (Karla) Mineer & Sandy (Ray) Williams; 19 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were 10 brothers & sisters, including twins Billy Mineer & Betty Ecklar, who passed in the two days before Joe.
Graveside services with military honors will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 26th in Battle Grove Cemetery.
