James Steven “Jimmy” Howard, 80, went to be with the Lord on February 24, 2022.
Born March 23, 1941, in Bracken County, Kentucky, to the late Carl and Annie Maude Coy Howard, Jimmy lived there until moving to Cynthiana upon his marriage to Mary Doan on February 10, 1963. He was an active member of Faith Baptist Church since 1963, where he became a deacon, taught Sunday School, acted as church treasurer, and greeted people at the door before every service. A hard-working man, he entered the workforce in his late teens and was employed by several companies, including Ladish Company, where he labored for a total of 32 years. Even after retiring, he became a greeter at the local Wal-Mart. Additionally, he loved fishing, gardening, bowling, cars and motorcycles, and watching sports and old Westerns.
He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 59 years, Mary Doan Howard; his two daughters, Karen Baldwin (David Davenport) and Marilyn (Frank) Thomas; his siblings: Virginia French, Nancy (William) Sharp, and Sharon (Ernie) Meyer; and many nieces & nephews. He was also blessed with five grandchildren: Keith (Mary Jane) & Zachary Baldwin and David (Falecia), Jameson & Ella Thomas, as well as three great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were his sister, Anna Lavon Howard, and brother, Harold Wayne Howard.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, February 28, 2022 at Faith Baptist Church by Pastor John Chamberlin and Rev. Wayne Tolson. Burial will follow in Battle Grove Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Mike Beckett, David Chamberlin, Jerry Harney, Warren Johnson, Roger Lawrence and Michael Mack.
Honorary bearers will be Andy Beckett, Gayle Beckett, Michael L. Beckett, Matthew Lawrence and Paul Lawrence.
Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. Monday until the time of the service.
