James Lewis McCauley, 88, of Cynthiana, Kentucky, died Tuesday, September 26, 2006, at Cedar
Ridge Health Care Campus, Cynthiana, Kentucky.
He was born in Harrison County, Kentucky, March 20, 1918, to the late Walter H. and Flossie
Owens McCauley. Mr. McCauley had been a Farmer and Tobacco Buyer having worked for the G.F.
Vaughn Tobacco Company for 25 years.
He was a member of the Cynthiana Presbyterian Church, and was a member of the Cynthiana Elks Lodge #438 and
was a Past Exalted Ruler .
Mr. McCauley was preceded in death by his sister, Marie McCauley Stephens.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Lois Fields McCauley, one son, Scott McCauley and his wife
Janet, Harrison County, one daughter, Annette Ewalt and her husband, Paul, Harrison County,
one sister, Geneva Fisher, Miamisburg, Ohio, four grandchildren, Kathleen Mitchell, Missouri, David
Stewart, Georgetown, Meredith McCauley, Lexington, and Mason McCauley, Cynthiana, two
great grandchildren, Coleman Mitchell, Missouri and Hayden Stewart, Georgetown. Several Nieces and
nephews also survive.
Services will be conducted 10:30 A.M. Saturday, September 30, 2006, at Cynthiana Presbyterian
Church, by Rev. Larry Bowald, with burial in Battle Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to
Cynthiana Presbyterian Church or Hospice of the Bluegrass.
Pallbearers Mason McCauley, David Stewart, John Burrier, Tom McKee, Paul Hyatt, Derek Vaughn,
and Garnett Lyons. Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
