Helen Carol Chamberlin Humphrey, of Cynthiana died Wednesday August 22, 2007.
She was born at Breckinridge, Harrison Co., KY July 12, 1917, the daughter of Dr. J. P. Chamberlin and Meddie Lafferty Chamberlin. Her parents and six brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
In 1941 she married Edgar Felix Humphrey and after WWII lived the rest of her life in the White Oak community, Harrison Co., KY.
She was a lifelong member of the Unity Christian Church and Ladies Aid Society where she had served as Sunday School teacher and youth leader.
She was a teacher and school librarian having taught at Connersville High School, Cynthiana High School, Harrison Co. High School and during WWII in St. Petersburg, FL where she also served as program director for the Pinellas Co. Girl Scouts.
She received her AB degree from Kentucky Wesleyan College in 1939 and a Master of Arts in Library Science from the University of Kentucky in 1965.
She was a member of Kentucky Wesleyan and University of Kentucky Alumni Associations and of Beta Phi Mu, international library and audiovisual honorary society.
Survivors include nieces Violet Renaker and Neva Lanning of Cynthiana, Barbara Traylor, Ohio, Sandra Balmer, Florida, a nephew Bro. Ray Chamberlin, Cynthiana and several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday August 25, 2007 at the Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home.
Burial will follow the service in the Battle Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call after 9:30 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
