Geraldine Laytart Gates, 80, wife of 60 year to Eddie Gates, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2021.
Born March 6, 1940 in Harrison County to the late Archie & Velma Rose Laytart, she was a talented seamstress and member of the First Church of God in Paris. Geraldine enjoyed spending time with her friends, baking, crocheting and sewing. She had a great gift of hospitality, having planned many church dinners and would often deliver treats to the special people in her life.
Also surviving are two children: Kim (Skip) Leonardis and Daniel (Heather) Gates; and her pride and joy, four grandchildren: Sarah, Dalton, Lyndsey and Lexie; along with several nieces and nephews. She had many special friends, among them were Betsy McGee, Janice Judy and Jessie Richardson.
Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home by Pastor Tim Pierce and Pastor David Mefford. Burial will follow in Battle Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon Thursday until the time of service.
