Gene Thomas Baker, 87, husband of 67 years to Mary Gunsauley Baker, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021 at his home.
Born August 7, 1933 in Bracken County to the late John Lee & Ida Pearl Baker, he was a lifelong farmer, co-owner of the A-Z Auction Barn & Antiques Store, and attended the Hour of Deliverance Church. Gene loved working on his home and caring for his yard.
Additional survivors include 4 sons: Donald Baker, Ronnie Baker, James (Tammy) Baker and Robert (Kelly) Baker; 2 daughters: Connie Baker Fryman and Mary Lou (Dale) Halcomb; 5 brothers: Roy (Patty) Baker, Ralph Baker, Ricky Baker, Raymond Baker and Olden (Nancy) Baker; 15 grandchildren: Donnie (Leslie) Baker, Jr., Matthew Thomas Baker, Teresa Baker, Melissa Davis, Clint (Lacey) Balzer, Jimmy Baker, Makayla (Jordan) Fletcher, Rada (Bobby) Barrett, Laura Michelle Reffett, Kimberly Fryman, Eric Lee (Candice) Hutchison, Mary Beth (David) Minor, Jared Thomas Woods, Christina (A.J.) Best and Kay (Chip) Purcell; and several great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were a son, Johnny Ray Baker; 2 brothers, Dave & Bobby Baker; and 2 sisters, Anna Lou Staggs and Ruby Baker; along with 4 infant brothers & sisters.
Services will be 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home by Rev. William Gaunce. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. Tuesday until the time of services.
A committal service will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 13th in the Battle Grove Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Donald Baker, James Baker, Jimmy Baker, Matthew Baker, Manuel Baker, Robert Baker, Ronnie Baker, Jordan Fletcher and Dale Halcomb.
