Esther Lucille Mueller Ammerman, 90, of Cynthiana, Ky., died Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, at Cedar
Ridge Health Care Campus.
She was born in Thayer, Nebraska, June 7, 1916, to the late Paul and Paula Bergt Mueller.
Mrs. Ammerman was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church, Fannie Zollar Church
Circle, Thursday Club, Harrison County Homemakers and member and past president of the
Harrison Memorial Hospital Auxilliary. Esther served in the Womens Air Force Service Pilots,
"WASP" from 1943 to 1945 during World War II and was Nebraska's first licensed female
parachute rigger. In 2003 she was inducted into the Kentucky Aviation Hall of Fame. Mrs.
Ammerman was a retired employee of Harrison Memorial Hospital.
Her husband Joe L. Ammerman and brother Donald Mueller preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons, Michael L. (Laura) Ammerman, Oklahoma City, OK., Robert P.
(Meg) Ammerman, Cynthiana, Ky., and Joseph D. (Suzanne) Ammerman, Louisville, Ky., two
sisters, Mildred Brockmann, St. Louis, Mo., and Frances Gerken, Rockville, Maryland. Grandchildren,
Sarah Wylie Ammerman, Joseph (Jesse) Ammerman and Celia Ammerman, Charles Allen Ammerman,
Andrew Ammerman and Rachel Wojciak.
Service will be conducted Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007 at 10 A.M. by Rev. David Sabella,
at Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home, with burial in Battle Grove Cemetery. Friends may
call at the funeral home from 5 to 7 P.M. Tuesday. Memorials may be made to Covenant
