Dorotha Ross Evans Wilson, 96, of Cynthiana, Ky., died Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at Mayfair
Manor Nursing Home, Lexington, Ky.,
She was born in Cynthiana, Ky., Nov. 11, 1911, to the late Luther and Elizabeth Allen
Evans. She was a graduate of Cynthiana High School in 1929 and went on to Geogetown
College, where she was honored with the title of May Day Queen. Mrs. Wilson was an
educator having taught at Marshall School, Cynthiana High School and Harrison High School.
She was named "Teacher of the Year" in 1967. Her memberships include Cynthiana Baptist
Church, Goldenaires, Thursday Club and Retired Teachers Association.
Her husband James Goodwin Wilson preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, James Evans (Leslie Anne) Wilson, Harrison County, Ky., one
daughter, Kay Allen (Wyman Rice) Wilson, Lexington, Ky. sister in law, Katherine Wilson,
Cynthiana, Ky., three grandchildren, James Patton Wilson, Lauren Leslie Carroll and Will Carroll.
Services will be conducted 11 A.M. Saturday, at the Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home,
with burial in Battle Grove Cemetery. Friends may call after 9 A.M. Saturday.
