Doris Jean Mastin Franklin, 81, formerly of Lexington, wife of the late Charles Neal Franklin, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at her home in Harrison County.
Born November 6, 1940 in Harrison County to the late Tilford Earl & Lucy Jane Spegal Mastin, she was a 1958 graduate of Harrison County High School and worked for many years as a legal secretary with the Kincaid, Wilson, Schaeffer & Hembree Law Firm and later with Charles R. Hembree, Attorney at Law. Doris lived for her daughter and grandchildren. She greatly enjoyed making memories as she traveled to band competitions, wrestling matches and any other activities they were involved in.
Surviving are her daughter, Debbie Jean Whitson (Alan Moore), of Harrison County; a brother, David (June Ann) Mastin, of Harrison County; a brother-in-law, Larry (Angela) Franklin, of Harrison County; 3 grandchildren: Harrison Franklin Moore, Heather Neale (Heather) Gibson & Hannah Reed (Ethan) Shuler; 3 great-grandchildren: Delany Jean Shuler, Waylon Pryce Shuler & Cohen Neal Gibson; and her beloved dog, Bandy Jo, along with several nieces & nephews.
Also preceding her in death were 4 brothers: Earnest E. Mastin, Howard William Mastin, Charles Haviland Mastin & Junior Mastin.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 31st at Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home by Dr. Ted Beam with burial to follow in Battle Grove Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Jason Franklin, Ryan Franklin, Travis Franklin, Billy Mastin, Robert Earl Mastin and Ethan Shuler.
Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Sunday.
