Cora Mae Simpson Florence, 81, of Cynthiana, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at Grand Haven Nursing Home.
Born September 17, 1942 in Harrison County to the late Orville, Sr. & Anna Cole Simpson, she was a lifelong farmer and member of Webster Avenue Church of God. Cora Mae enjoyed shopping, reading—especially her Bible, listening to Christian music and spending time with her family.
Surviving are a son, Steven Wayne (Mary) Florence, Sr. of Butler; a daughter-in-law, Faith Eckler of Cynthiana; 2 brothers, Newton “Sonny” (Betty) Simpson of Ohio & James T. “Jimmy” (Marcia) Simpson of Cynthiana; 2 sisters, Martha (Charlie) Bilyeu of Tennessee & Maxie Wyrick of Cynthiana; 4 grandchildren: Steven Wayne Florence, Jr., Allen Wayne Maybrier, Alexandra Maybrier & Tonya Applegate; 15 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces & nephews.
Also preceding her in death were her former husband, Harold Wayne Florence; a son, Tony Florence; a daughter, Tina Michelle Maybrier; 4 brothers: Orville Jr., Charles, Clarence “Ed” & Donald Gene Simpson; 3 sisters: Louise Richardson, Anna Lee Whalen & Mary Catherine Simpson; and a granddaughter, Crissy Michelle Evans.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 25th at Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home by Rev. Ron Corbin with burial to follow in Pythian Grove Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Gage Florence, Malachi Florence, Steven Florence Jr., Kelly Wayne Grubbs, J.D. Pollard, Johnny Sexton and Danny Wyrick.
Honorary bearers will be Austin & Zachary Frederick.
Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon Sunday until the time of service.
