On October 29, 2025 Catherine Ann Sagraves left her earthly vessel for her heavenly reward.
Born September 7, 1943 in Clarksburg, West Virginia to the late Logan Jennings & Anna Nell Gleason Sagraves, she was a 1961 graduate of Pikeville High School, a 1965 graduate of Morehead State University, a longtime educator at Nicholas County High School and a devout Catholic. Catherine lived a life filled with people– classmates from Pikeville City Schools, roommates from Morehead State, co-workers and students from Nicholas County Schools, and later co-workers and clients from the law office where she served as Brian’s Office Manager. Her list of friends is long and diverse and serves as a testament to her having lived a good life.
Surviving are her son, Brian (Alyssa) Canupp; two grandchildren, Marshall & Mary Canupp; her brother-in-law, Joe Dean Anderson; a niece, Andrea Anderson; a nephew, Sean (Sarah Gardner) Anderson; two great- nieces, Mattie & Margaret Anderson; and a great-nephew, L.J. Allara.
Also preceding her in death was her sister, Margaret “Peggy” Anderson.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 3rd at Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with burial to follow in Carlisle Cemetery. A Rosary Service will be held immediately prior to the Funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M.
Pallbearers will be L. J. Allara, Sean Anderson, Marshall Canupp, Jon Furnish, Stephen Furnish, Bobby Price and Mark Whitaker.
Visitation will be 3:00-6:00 P.M. Sunday at Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home in Cynthiana and after 9:30 A.M. at the church Monday.
