Beulah VanHook Powers, 83, of Cynthiana, Kentucky, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, at Edgemont
Manor Nursing Home.
She was born in Harrison County, Kentucky, Dec. 20, 1924, to the late Clarence and Elizabeth
Dennis VanHook. She was a member of the Claysville Christian Church and a retired farmer.
Mrs. Powers was preceded in death by her husband, James Arthur Powers, in 1993, and her
sisters, Laura Dixon and Helen VanHook and a brother, Robert VanHook.
Survivors include three sons, Van Powers, Frankfort, Ky., David (Mary Jo) Powers, and
Douglas (Pam) Powers, all of Harrison County, one brother, Samuel VanHook, Harrison Co.,
and three sisters, Margaret Hayden, Ohio, Juanita Nichols, Florida, and Cappie
Curtis, Cynthiana, Seven Grandchildren, Kimberly Powers, Joshua (Andrea) Powers,
Brandon (Stephanie) Powers, Ashley (Perry) Jenkins, Amber Powers, Tatosha Powers and
Derreck Powers, Great Grandchildren are Trey Shadd, Madison Cox, Audrey Hattan, Mary Beth Hisle,
and Aiden Jenkins. Many friends of the Claysville Christian Church also survive.
Services will be conducted 1 P.M. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at the Drake-Whaley-McCarty
Funeral Home, by Rev. Heath Penewitt, with burial in Republican Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 P.M. Wednesday, at the Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass or Claysville Christian Church.
Active Pallbearers are Josh Powers, Brandon Powers, Teddy Curtis, Eddie VanHook, Robby
VanHook, Derreck Powers, Dennis Dixon and Perry Jenkins.
Honorary Pallbearers are Trey Shadd, Wayne Eason Danny VanHook, Bob Dixon and
Ricky Dixon.
