Edith “Ann” Barnes Young, 80, loving wife of 61 years to James William Young, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Baptist Health-Lexington.
Born November 2, 1941 in Woodford County, Ann was a 1959 graduate of Franklin County High School, a former employee of the Kentucky Department of Revenue, a former secretary in the Franklin County School System and member of the Christian Faith Center. Ann devoted herself to family and friends, having an open door and place at the table for all who came to visit. She truly loved being a Mom to everyone.
Also left to cherish her memory are 3 children: James W. (Marye Ellen) Young, Jr. of Salem, Darrell (Shad) Young of Murray and Kimberly Young (Nolan) Smith of Lexington; 7 grandchildren: Wesley Young, Andrew Young, Brent Smith, Jonathan Young, Christopher Young, Caleb Young and Jordan Young; 13 great-grandchildren: Lakin, Charley, Presley, Peyton, Braxton, Bentley, Logan, Lily, Mac, Oakley & Asa Young and Lucas & Sadie Smith; a special friend, Ann Roberts, and a large extended family.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Pastor Charles Russell Barnes, minister of the Pentecostal Church of God on Marshall Avenue for more than 50 years, & Mildred Edith Lancaster Barnes, and a brother, Bobby Dean Barnes.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 19th at the Christian Faith Center by Pastor Thomas Clendenen. Burial will follow in Battle Grove Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be her grandsons and Danny Askins.
Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. Saturday until the time of service.
