Thelma Mae Strange Haley, 88, wife of the late Neville L. Haley, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Sayre Christian Village in Lexington.
Born June 6, 1930 in Woodford County, Thelma was the former owner of Brannock’s Store in Kelat and worked for many years in the cafeteria at Southside Elementary School. She devoted much of her time to memberships in the Cynthiana-Harrison County Historical Society as well as the Museum, was a faithful singer on the Harrison County Hymn Sing on WCYN Radio for over 50 years and a longtime member of the Benson United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a son, Lin Haley, of Cynthiana; a sister, Anna Louise Chapman, of Jessamine County; 2 grandsons, Derrick (Danielle) Haley and Brent (Heather) Haley; 3 great-grandsons, Oliver, Nolan & Elliott Haley; and a special friend, Connie (Danny) Copes.
Also preceding her in death were her mother, Minnie Mae Coyle Strange, and her daughter-in-law, Debbie Haley.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home by Rev. Ray Snider with burial to follow in Sunrise Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Jim Carr, Chad Chapman, Gary Chapman, Kenny Chapman, Lee Chapman and Chuck Mullikin.
Honorary bearer is Tom Dunn.
Visitation will be after 6:00 P.M. Wednesday.
