Ruby Lou Dailey McCauley, “Granny”, age 103, passed peacefully at Grand Haven Nursing Home on October 13, 2018. She was born in Harrison County on September 29, 1915 to the late Frank and Lilly Florence Dailey. Also preceding her in death were her husband, Roscoe H. McCauley, her parents, four brothers, four sisters, and two comfort companion cats, Smokey and Tom.
Ruby was a supporter of her family in the capacity of a hard working farmer’s wife and an unconditional loving mother of two daughters: Ann (Jerry) Brunker of Morehead, KY and Harlene (Howard) Welch of Cynthiana, KY; a grandmother of six: Angela (James) Gray of Cynthiana, Alicia (Matthew) Burkle of Columbus, OH, Marilou (Garrett) Stovall of Cynthiana, Jeffrey T. Fryman and Louann Fryman of Cynthiana, and Leslie (Lisa) Fryman of Lexington, KY; and a great-grandmother of six: Whitney Gray, Blake Burkle, Skylar Burkle, Annabelle Burkle, Corey M. Rogers, and Peyton Boisseau as well as many nieces and nephews.
Ruby was an accomplished quilter and seamstress volunteering as a 4-H leader, a member of the Harrison County Extension homemakers, an avid biography reader, a genealogy researcher and scrap booker, a HCHS band & sports supporter, and a member of the Salem Church of Christ.
A visitation will be held at the Drake Whaley McCarty funeral home on Tuesday evening, October 16, 5-8 pm with burial service by Bro. Dale Kendrick, Leslie Fryman and Jerry Brunker on Wednesday, October 17 beginning at 11 am. Interment will be in the Battle Grove Cemetery.
