Nora Josephine Cordray “Granny” McCauley, 98, wife of the late Thomas Jackson “Uncle Jack” McCauley, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018 at her home.
Born September 6, 1919 in Harrison County to the late Reuben Nelson & Sarah Elizabeth Cook Cordray, she was a former secretary for Blake & Johnson, a devoted homemaker and member of the Salem Church of Christ, where she had been a Sunday School teacher for the youth and was active in the Ladies Missionary Group. Nora greatly enjoyed sewing crocheting and spending time with all her grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, David Nelson Cordray (Peggy) McCauley, of Cynthiana; four grandchildren: David Thomas Cordray, Richard Nelson Cordray, Linda Carol Cordray and Amy Cordray Sidle; six great-grandchildren: Amy Renee (Andrew) Tate, Michael Lynn (Stephanie) Thomas, Lauren Elizabeth Cordray, Samantha Jane Cordray, Amber Jo (David) McFadden and Harold Allen Sidle, Jr.; along with thirteen great-great grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were 5 brothers, Stanley, Harvey, Harlan, Swinford & Harry Cordray, her sister, Mary Elizabeth Richie, and a step-granddaughter, Leslie Cummins.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 27, 2018 at the Salem Church of Christ by Bro. Dale Kendrick & Bro. Stephen Staggs with burial following in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Thursday at Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home.
