Joanna Arnold Henson, 76, wife of Melvin Keith Henson, Sr., died Sat. July 3, 2010, at Harrison Memorial Hospital. She was born May 12, !934 to the late...
Joanna Arnold Henson, 76, wife of Melvin Keith Henson, Sr., died Sat. July 3, 2010, at Harrison Memorial Hospital. She was born May 12, !934 to the late Walker and Anna Veach Price Arnold. She was one of four children who have preceded her in death, Harold Ruby(Eula) Arnold, Shirley W. (Olive) Arnold and Virginia Faye (Bill) Hill. Joanna graduated in 1952 from Harrison County High School. She and Melvin spent 58 years together. They have four children, Melonie (Shelton) Dahmer, Mark (Jeanette) Henson, Harrison Co. Melvin Keith (Peggy) Henson, Jr. Beebe, Arkansas and Kyle Arnold Henson, New Orleans, LA. They have seven grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren. Joanna worked 10 years at Lexington Army Depot and 10 years at Grand Haven Nursing Home as Activity and Social Director. She and Melvin transferred Senior Citizens to Lexington to Doctors for several years. Joanna attended Cynthiana Baptist Church for 44 years and was active in the choir. She also attended Fairview Baptist Church once a month. She and her husband were active in keeping the Old Indian Creek Baptist Church open for 10 years. She was also commissioned a Kentucky Colonel in Feb. 1988. Services will be conducted Tues. July 6, 2010, at 1 P.M. at the Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home, by Bro. Rick Bradshaw and Rev. Wayne Spivey. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Mon. July 5th, 2010 from 5 to 8 P.M.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Scott Dahmer, of Lexington, Shayne Dahmer, Stephen Dahmer, Hunter Henson all of Cynthiana Justin Henson, Arkansas and Ron Garrison. Honorary Pallbearers are Betty Harney,Violet Williams, Tom McKee, Bill Probus, Dr Frank McKemie and the AGAPE Sunday School Class. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass or the Fairview Baptist Church Building Fund in care of Kathy Beckett, 477 Eureka Rd. Berry, Ky. 41003
